Watergate wins ‘Leakage Initiative of the Year’ at 2025 Water Industry Awards

We’re incredibly proud to announce that Watergate has won “Leakage Initiative of the Year” at the 2025 Water Industry Awards – a major milestone for our business, less than a year after launch.

This isn’t just any award. The Water Industry Awards, organised by Utility Week, are widely regarded as the UK’s most respected water sector honours, attracting entries from nearly every major water company, and innovation leader in the industry.

Going head-to-head with the industry’s biggest players

In the Leakage category, we were up against some of the UK’s largest and most established companies, including the UK’s biggest water utility. That makes this win even more meaningful — a clear signal that our technology, ambition, and impact are already punching well above our weight.

Recognised for both leakage and efficiency

We were also shortlisted for Water Efficiency Project of the Year, recognising the 68% water savings we helped deliver in partnership with Greystar, one of the world’s leading rental housing providers. That project showed what’s possible when innovative property owners embrace smart water management at scale.

Innovation that delivers

Watergate’s solution combines real-time leak detection, automatic shut-off valves, and intelligent software to identify and stop water loss before it causes damage. Our flagship device, Sonic, is already proving its value in thousands of homes and businesses – reducing waste, protecting properties, and helping people take control of their water use.

We believe water efficiency should be effortless. That’s why our technology works with or without a smart meter and can integrate with existing systems to deliver immediate results.

A big win – and just the beginning

This award is a tribute to our fantastic team and the growing group of customers and partners who believe in what we’re building.

Thank you to Utility Week for this honour – and to the judges who recognised the difference we’re making.

We’re just getting started. Let’s fix water together.
