AI Implementation Lead | Watergate

AI Implementation Lead

Full-time, on-site – London
£50,000–£65,000 + meaningful equity

Watergate helps buildings detect leaks, cut water waste, and reduce the carbon footprint of every litre, proving the impact with data.

We’re building the missing circuit breaker for water. Every building has fire protection. Every building has security. Almost none have proper water protection, despite leaks causing huge financial and operational damage. We’re here to fix that.

We also want to build something else: a company that actually runs on AI.

Not AI as garnish. Not AI as a deck slide. Not AI as a Friday-afternoon experiment that never gets deployed. Real agents, real automations, real workflows, real leverage – embedded across the business so that five people can operate like fifty.

Now we need someone to own that.

This role takes full responsibility for launching, running, maintaining and improving AI agents, automations and AI-assisted workflows across Watergate. You’ll work closely with our CEO and CTO, and across the whole company, to turn frontier tools into reliable systems that save time, sharpen output, remove friction and help us scale.

This is not a research role. It’s not a strategy role without execution. It’s for someone who has already been building with AI – weird prototypes, half-broken agents, workflows that somehow worked – and wants a real company to build on.

We’re deliberately lean. That’s not code for chaotic. It means small team, high trust, high ownership and high output.

We already use AI heavily, and we expect that to accelerate fast. OpenClaw sits at the heart of that. So do Claude across multiple modes, GTM automation, CRM workflows, voice, customer support, research, internal tooling, content generation, video, orchestration, and whatever comes next. Some of the tools will be brilliant. Some will be hype. Your job is to know the difference quickly, and to build systems that actually hold up once the novelty wears off.

This is a place for people who work hard, think clearly and use tools intelligently. Two out of three won’t cut it.

If you’ve already spent late nights building powerful things with agentic AI because you couldn’t help yourself, keep reading.

What you’ll own

Build and run AI systems – Agents, automations and workflows, from rough experiment to reliable system people actually trust and use daily. You own the full lifecycle: launch it, monitor it, fix it when it breaks, improve it when it’s good enough but not great.

OpenClaw and the wider stack – OpenClaw will be central to the role. You’ll own how we use it, where it fits, what it connects to, and how it behaves in the real world. Alongside that, you’ll own the rest of the stack: agent frameworks, copilots, orchestration layers, CRM integrations, telephony, voice, video, and whatever else proves useful. No one should know our AI stack better than you.

GTM and CX automation – Outreach, lead qualification, follow-up, customer support and communication. Help us build AI-powered pipelines that are fast, useful and real – not demo-ware.

Training and enablement – Make the whole team better at using AI. Teaching, prompting, documenting, troubleshooting, setting standards. The best systems in the world are worthless if nobody uses them properly.

Quality and supervision – Monitoring outputs, spotting failure cases, refining prompts and workflows. AI systems degrade quietly. Your job is to notice before anyone else does.

Strategic input – Working closely with our CEO and CTO on where AI should change how Watergate operates, and where it shouldn’t. Not every problem needs an agent. You’ll have the judgement to know the difference.

What good looks like in six months – You’ll have rebuilt at least three core workflows, deployed agents that are saving real time across the business, and become the person the whole company turns to when they want to know what’s possible.

What we’re looking for

We care much less about:

  • formal pedigree
  • fancy titles
  • whether your background looks conventional
  • whether you did this at a brand-name company

We care much more about:

  • speed
  • judgement
  • obsession
  • range
  • build quality
  • whether you can turn frontier tools into reliable leverage

The skills we expect from day one:

  • Strong hands-on experience with modern AI tools, agents, copilots and automation platforms – including building multi-step agentic workflows that actually ran, not just demos
  • Real evidence that you’ve turned AI tools into workflows, systems or advantages that worked in practice
  • Strong prompting skills across research, drafting, structuring, analysis, automation and communication
  • Comfortable getting your hands dirty with tools, APIs and configurations, and figuring things out without constant supervision
  • Able to document processes clearly and build playbooks other people can actually use
  • Strong written communication and structured thinking
  • Already using Claude, ChatGPT and other tools constantly, because that’s just how you work
  • Strong instincts around OpenClaw or similar agentic systems, and genuine excitement about where that category is going

Bonus points if you’ve:

  • Worked with OpenClaw directly
  • Worked with GTM automation, CRM workflows, outreach systems or lead qualification tooling
  • Built internal copilots or support agents
  • Worked with AI video, voice or telephony
  • Helped roll out AI systems across a whole company, not just inside one function
  • Broken enough things to have real instincts about what fails in production

You’ll probably do well here if you…

  • See new tools as raw material, not entertainment
  • Get restless when you spot work that should have been automated already
  • Enjoy being the person who knows what’s possible now, not six months ago
  • Like teaching smart people how to get more out of good tools
  • Can move from experiment to system without losing momentum
  • Want to build leverage across a whole company, not just optimise your own workflow
  • Have been waiting for someone to hand you a real company and say: go make us dangerous

What’s possible here

This role can grow a long way. The more your systems become load-bearing infrastructure – the things Watergate genuinely can’t operate without – the more indispensable you become, and the scope and equity grow with that. We’re not handing out inflated titles on day one. But the mandate is real, and the ceiling is as high as what you build.

What you’ll get

  • £50,000–£65,000 base salary, depending on what you’ve already built and deployed
  • Meaningful equity
  • Life and health insurance
  • Every tool, subscription and support you need to do the job properly
  • Professional development budget
  • Direct access to our CEO and CTO
  • A mandate that spans the whole business
  • Real room to build, prove, scale and grow
  • A smart, ambitious team building something that matters

Location

Full-time and based in our London office. We’re currently in NW2 and moving to Waterloo in summer 2026. This role can’t be done remotely – proximity is part of the value.

  2. Initial screening call – fit, motivation and practicalities
  3. We’ll give you a real workflow that’s currently manual and ask you to design and prototype a better version using AI tools. We want to see what you actually build, not just what you’d recommend
  4. Interview with our CEO and CTO – we’ll walk through your task, talk through systems you’ve built, and push on how you think
  5. Final interview with a senior team member – focused on values, range and how you operate
